Incorrect Spaces

01 February - 28 February 2007
curated by Lorenzo Benedetti

When one enters an art gallery one becomes aware that everything inside it is part of the marvellous world of contemporary art, and every anomaly or mystery can be transformed by this space. The art space is the explanation itself, as a “limit” of the work, or its range. The gallery becomes a hinge with a double defence: defending the work of art from possible ‘pollution’ from the outside world, and at the same time, defending the viewer warning him that in its interioreverything can be ‘true’. The architecture of the space has a double value: firstly to enrich the work of art such as a frame usually does, secondly, to create the context where the artistic action takes place.

Incorrect spaces wants to understand how the frame of the exhibition’s space is now becoming like a “descendant” of the traditional frame of the painting.
